Yes, its time finally for the launching of Kala Pohl Designs, my new jewelry business.
I have attached the invitation to the party which will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Please e-mail me at kala@kalapohl.com if you are interested in coming. I am very excited about finally unveiling my designs.
I finally got some time to relax and focus on family during the Memorial Day holidays. My brother, his wife and little girl, Leah came to visit.
As you can see, my little niece Leah took to beads like a little professional. She’s only 2 and a half, but managed to pick out her own beads and string her own necklace!
For clients and friends who have been wondering what I have been up to - here’s a sneak preview. Ever since my vacation in December, I have been seriously bitten by the “jewelry designing” bug! Over the years, I have designed my own jewelry, but never really found the time to focus on learning the right skills to personally make what I designed. Well, my vacation gave me the opportunity to develop my skills at jewelry design and jewelry making. I was fortunate that a lot of things fell into place along the way, including the opportunity to learn skills/tips that I needed from some valuable resources. So finally, my jewelry business, Kala Pohl Designs is launched. (more…)
I am back after spending a wonderful and inspiring month and a half in Singapore and India and finally found some time to write in my blog. Prior to my trip, I was getting anxious about the fact that I was not going to be able to paint during the trip. (more…)
It has been a long time since I updated my Blog, but I have been incredibly busy this Summer. It began in July with the immigration of my sister and family from Singapore. This has been a dream of mine for a very long time – to have family live close to me and I still find it hard to believe that it has finally happened. My sister, who is my best friend, my ardent fan and critic is now living about 10 minutes away from me. My creative energies have been directed in helping her decorate her apartment. I have always been interested in interior decoration and with my enthusiasm for creating a colorful and peaceful oasis, we had a lot of fun shopping for furniture and other home décor items. (more…)
I find that an artist’s journey is often one that is solitary. I spend a lot of time in my studio painting, thinking of new ideas or experimenting with new techniques. I am lucky to have a husband who is also creative and I am able to bounce ideas off him. However, I have missed having artist friends who speak the same “language”. (more…)
It is often said that people who are successful have great support behind them. On a personal level, I know that my success in life is because of the “wind beneath my wings”, my husband Marty. He has been my friend, well-wisher, supporter and fan ever since we got married in 1984. (more…)
Summer is here and I usually take time off to travel and paint. This year, I have also decided to showcase my work at Cherie’s in St. Petersburg, Florida. (more…)
I have been busy with my Spring outdoor art shows. Each year I aim to participate in the highest quality outdoor art shows. All of the shows are juried and due to the volume of participating artists, gaining entry into the best shows is challenging. I am very excited that this year, I have been accepted into 4 of the best Spring shows in Florida. (more…)
I was in a gift store in Kona, Hawaii several years ago, when it occurred to me that my art would look great on several of the gift items. Since then, I have wanted to license my art work. Of course, figuring out how one would go about doing that is the hard part and I have been busy since November 2006 doing reseach on this project. (more…)
